Friday 25 April 2025 Food in School and Healthy Eating Tracey, the Development Chef for North Yorkshire Schools' Catering Services visited us this week to talk to us about our school lunches and also what a healthy lunchbox looks like. We were taken on a journey of the ingredients in two school lunches; macaroni cheese and spaghetti bolognaise. She told us about food miles and what this means in relation to local sourcing and the impact on the environment. This was very useful to know, especially as it was Earth day this week too! We looked at the Eatwell Guide and School Food Standards to see what a nutritious and balanced meal looks like. The children learned the importance of making good eating choices and limiting sweet and salty snacks for treat times as part of a balanced diet.

On Friday we met with pupils from St John Fisher High school for the handover at St Robert's church. A special Jubilee mass was celebrated by Fr Simon, and the choirs from both schools joined together with parishioners to make it a fantastic way to mark the holy year.
