Intent
RE teaching at St Robert’s is at the heart of our school curriculum and is regarded as a core subject and is, therefore, planned, taught, assessed and monitored with the same rigour as other core curriculum subjects. At St Robert’s, RE’s primary purpose is to draw pupils into a systematic study of Catholic Christianity and to explore the contribution of Christianity and other religions to culture, personal commitment and action in everyday life.
We present an authentic vision of the Church’s moral and social teaching so that when our Y6 pupils leave St Robert’s they:
- have a greater understanding of the underlying trends in contemporary culture and society.
- have a greater understanding about the relationship between faith and life and between faith and culture.
- are able to reflect spiritually.
- are able to think theologically.
- are able to use the virtues of faith, hope, love, justice, temperance, courage and practical wisdom to respond appropriately to situations in any area of experience.
