Y2 Starlings

Welcome to Starlings class

It is a great privilege to teach Year 2 and see how much they grow, blossom and flourish in these formative years. Starlings staff are really looking forward to working with your children this year, getting to know them and seeing them form new friendships, develop independence and become responsible learners.

Reading and Phonics:

Please find resources below to help your child with their phonics and handwriting.

We follow the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised Scheme to help your children to read and spell. Your child is on their journey to becoming a skilled reader. The Year 2 programme provides a seamless link from the core Little Wandle programme to teaching spelling in Year 2. It includes Little Wandle Spelling, incorporating Phase 5 review, Bridge to spelling and the Spelling units. Little Wandle Spelling builds on children’s knowledge of the alphabetic code and teaches them how to spell with confidence.
